BURT’S BEES AND BEST HEALTH GIVEAWAY (OCT 2020) Canada

Five new research projects related to honey bee health issues have been funded by a combination of a USDA APHIS grant, J.M.

Smucker Company sponsorship, and donations from Pollinator Partnership’s (P2) generous supporters.

Each project will explore one or more identified priority areas that will elucidate the issues faced by honey bees in North America and provide insight for management. Click here to read more.

The fight to contain and conquer the COVID-19 virus is a problem facing everyone in the world. We are all in this together, and Pollinator Partnership (P2) is pledged to keep working on behalf of pollinators, plants, people and the planet through this difficult time.

Keeping our P2 staff and all the people they connect with healthy and safe is our top priority.

At present, P2 is working mostly from home but also out in the field at a socially responsible distance from any other person, helping all of our pollinators greet spring in a safer and more sustainable environment. Click here to read more.

Pollinator Partnership's Bee Friendly Farming to Work with the Almond Board of California Sustainability Program

We are excited to announce a new partnership with the Almond Board of California.

In this new partnership, we are working with the Almond Board of California Sustainability Program’s bee health module to integrate our Bee Friendly Farming program.

Through this partnership, we will join forces to recognize farmers whose best management practices protect and promote pollinators, and increase the number of farmers who take these steps for pollinator protection.

Walmart Plants Pollination Plots

Walmart Inc. officials said they are working to counter pollinator population decline through a pilot program that started last spring with the planting of pollination gardens at about 20 of its stores nationwide. Walmart spokeswoman Anne Hatfield said the retailer aims to encourage other businesses, as well as its customers, to follow suit and create their own pollination gardens.

Mite-A-Thon Begins Today! Involvement Supports Honey Bee Health and Measures Infestation Levels Across the Continent

The Mite-A-Thon (MAT), an international citizen science effort to teach measurement protocols to learnthe varroa mite infestation levels of hives, collect mite infestation data and to visualize varroa miteinfestations in honey bee colonies across North America, runs from September 7-21, 2019. All beekeepersare encouraged to participate within this two-week window to gain knowledge of the level of miteinfestation that their hives are carrying just before the overwintering season begins.

Pollinator Partnership (P2), which founded Pollinator Week in 2007, announced today that the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue and the U.S. Secretary of the Interior David Bernhardt, as well as ALL 50 state governors (and many mayors), have signed proclamations supporting the observance of National Pollinator Week.

More Than One Million Strong: National Pollinator Garden Network Surpasses Goal of One Million Registered Pollinator Gardens

In just three years, 1,040,000 gardens were registered with the Million Pollinator Garden Challenge (MPGC) involving an estimated eight million people, concentrated in the United States, and Canada with some in Mexico, and across the globe. From tiny yards to public gardens, the million plus gardens add up to a network of approximately five million acres of enhanced or new pollinator habitat.

Pollinator Partnership is delighted to announce the election of our newest board member, Dr. Ron Bitner. Ron received his Ph.D. in Entomology from Utah State University in 1976, where he conducted his dissertation research on the Alfalfa Leafcutter Bee.
